Exceptional quality, great service

South Coast Polished Concrete is a family owned and run business. We are based on the Far South Coast of New South Wales in Merimbula, but we have a large service area from north of Ulladulla in NSW to East Gippsland and beyond in Vic. We don’t just do the coast, we also go inland through Cooma and Snowy Mountain regions too.

Mechanically polished concrete is a very technical process so it is absolutely imperative that you choose a craftsman that fully understands every part of that process. And that’s what we specialise in at South Coast Polished Concrete.

We understand the machinery, the tooling, the chemicals, the process and the concrete so we can deliver the very best results from your concrete every time.

We have a great eye for detail and always focus on the best quality finish. South Coast Polished Concrete can deliver the finish you’ve dreamed of - for your home or business.

The method to achieve perfection

A polished concrete surface, in a domestic or commercial situation, can be achieved in two different ways, mechanically polished concrete or a grind and seal.

Mechanically polished concrete is a process that involves grinding the concrete to the desired exposure of stone, refine grinding, densifying the surface and then polishing with finer and finer diamond polishing pads until the desired gloss level is achieved. At the end of this process an impregnating or penetrating sealer is applied for stain and moisture resistance.

This impregnating sealer leaves no film on the surface so there is nothing there to peel or flake or scratch easily.

The final result from South Coast Polished Concrete is an amazingly refined surface that feels beautiful to the touch just like a stone bench top and requires very little maintenance.

A grind and seal is achieved by again grinding the concrete to the desired exposure of stone and refine grinding but at this point a clear coating is applied to the floor. It is the coating that provides the colour enhancement, shine and protection to the concrete. There are many different types of coatings that can be used and each has its pros and cons but one thing they will all require at some point is maintenance or reapplication.

Professional advice and expert craftmanship

There are many different options available with polished concrete such as levels of stone exposure and gloss.

For stone exposure you can have anything from nil exposure, also known as a surface polish or burnished finish, to random exposure of stone or all the way to full exposure of stone.

You can then choose your gloss level from low sheen to mid gloss, gloss or high gloss.

Although we specialise in high end mechanically polished concrete there are always options for almost every budget.

From high end architectural homes to garage floors, warehouses, retail and commercial spaces South Coast Polished Concrete do it all. So have a look through our portfolio, jump on Instagram and check us out and get in touch to discuss your project today.

"When it came to polishing the concrete floors on our new home we contacted  Michael Branagan from South Coast Polished Concrete. His workmanship is exceptional, and the quality of his concrete polishing always draws praise from visitors to our house. He has an amazing knowledge of the various  processes  for polishing concrete and his knowledge has been useful for me as an architect,  not only  on our own award winning house at Mystery Bay,  but for many of our other clients. I couldn’t recommend Michael more highly."
